this, too shall pass

Psalm 131 says, “God, I do not concern myself with great matters or things too difficult for me. But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a child with its mother, my soul is quiet and still.”

Father, I confess that right now, in this moment, everything is too difficult for me. I am overwhelmed. In this moment, speak to my heart and say, “Be still.”

And God replies, “Be still, and know that I AM God.” This is the great I AM who spoke the worlds into being. The great I AM who spoke a word and created light to illuminate the darkness. The great I AM who knew me when I was in my mother’s womb. He formed me. He knew this day would come… and that it would also go!

I once heard this encouraging phrase… “If you’re going through hell… keep going!” Don’t get stuck… just keep moving forward. There is always hope!
