Joy

HPIM1823Come, let us sing to the LORD! Let us shout joyfully to the Rock of our salvation.
Psalm 95:1

I cannot adequately express the joy and hope I feel at this season.

There is no specific reason, no epiphany, no “aha” moment… just joy unspeakable and full of glorious hope.

I trust I am not alone… this life is not the end, this life is not the final answer… this life leads from one glory, to another glory, to another glory… it keeps getting better until that day of ultimate joy, when we see the face of Jesus, whose birth we celebrate!

Remember… Weeping may last through the night, but joy comes with the morning. ~ Psalm 30:5

Enter this season with joy, knowing that Christ came to save us, to be with us.  Face the new year with the hope that He has gone to prepare a place for us, where we can be with Him for eternity.

Joy to the World , the Lord is come!
Let earth receive her King;
Let every heart prepare Him room,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven and nature sing,
And Heaven, and Heaven, and nature sing.

Experiencing God’s Peace

“Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.” ~ Philippians 4:6-9

This passage keeps coming up in my devotional time.  Just when I think I’m getting a handle on the worrying thing… God, are you trying to tell me something?

There is nothing I cherish more than God’s peace.  I’m getting there.  What I’m discovering is this… it is a daily commitment.  I have to choose each day to trust God.  As I do this, His peace comes.  The process of thinking on good things is a discipline.  Lord, help me discipline my mind to think on good things so I can experience Your peace.
